The WordPress security team has started the Core Security Initiative to strengthen how the project handles a growing number of security reports. @davidgerard Isn't it amazing how so much AI 'charity' goes to non-profits, rather than charities obligated to, you know, do good, and those non-profits all promote AI in some way. It's almost as if it's a scammy way of using your advertising budget to get tax breaks rather than a drive to help humanity.

het tijdspad maakt ook weinig sense, dit heeft alleen impact op nieuw te bouwen fabs, een export ban van asml stopt niet de productie van de huidige fabs
enige wat het doet is dat het alle consumer computers nog veel duurder maakt

I used to think Debian was principled, but their recent spectacular fail (welcoming LLMs as long as the human LLM fan is ok with it, and of course they are) was surprising and concerning.

I think it's important to document this stuff because there's a tendency in the media to treat anything happening in tech now as sort of a continuation of how tech has always been rolled out since the dawn of personal computers in the 80s, and that's simply not true at all. It's become a very different scene. (And yet the seeds *were* there and we missed it. We need to grapple with that so history isn't doomed to repeat itself again…)
@jaredwhite @theinternet Yeah, with all the research I've done in the past weeks, I more and more realize how this is so much the case. Sometimes definitions are changed to resolve confusion, sometimes definitions are changed to cause confusion.

Although I suspect a fair section of Mastodon would probably like the idea of 130 days away from human company, before trying this you should note that he went a bit crazy towards the end, missed England's World Cup victory, and had a wife and kids and presumably expected her to just get on with taking care of the household while he sat in the dark being dripped on for four months just for the sake of saying he did it.

Yes! It was me. Quite a few years of AFib and all the things that go with it. Really struggled. Changed my whole lifestyle and indeed life. Then, eventually - after much prevaricating to myself at why I didn't want the ablation - I eventually had it. Best thing I ever did. Took a few months, but completely sorted it. Did a 12k run Saturday, a 25k walk on Sunday, have an 8k run tonight and am putting my name in the ballot for next year's London half marathon. Crucially I can now walk up the road to the shops without collapsing - which is nice. Happy to talk about it and tell you about the process if you want. 😊 🫀

I‘m just using weird tricks to wrangle downstream systems into doing the right thing at this point
if this was a smaller company where impact of Fucking It Up was less i would push this straight to prod and see if metrics go up, but alas, we can't do that
